On the second Sunday of Lent we will follow our Lenten theme “Holding on, letting go.” This week we will explore what it means to loosen our grip on “the way we have always done things.” Every nation, community, church and family has its own patterns and systems. Jesus invites us to “let go of these allegiances and this security” so that we can grasp a transformed way of living and thinking. Jesus calls us to move from suspicion of the “outsider” to the hospitality rooted in compassionate relationships.
Ron Guengerich’s sermon title is “Don’t be Afraid; Trust God’s Devotion.” The Scriptures are from Genesis 15 (God makes a covenant with Abram); Psalm 27 (the confidence we have in God’s protection); Philippians 3:17-4:1 (Paul calls for new citizenship); and Luke 13:31-35 (Jesus speaks about a recalcitrant people).
We will link this service to our vision for outreach that says, “We will confidently model and share our personal faith journeys while fostering an atmosphere of active listening to others so that we can build deeper relationships within the congregation, our surrounding community, and around the world.”

10:30 am – Worship (Lent 3)
On the 3rd Sunday of Lent we will reflect on the vastness of the banquet table where we have all been invited to come, eat and thirst no more. What exactly does this banquet table look like as we peer across our plates and notice others at the table with us? We are invited to let go of being "somebody" and hold on to being "everybody." Janice Troyer will preach on "The Mosaic Masterpiece" using Scriptures: Isaiah 55:1-9 and Romans 12. We will link this service to our vision for community life that says, “We will provide an accepting, no-barriers fellowship environment noted for its generosity, hospitality, companionship, and enthusiasm.”
