Lent 2 ~ Holding on, Letting go

 Even in deep darkness, our sheltering God holds us.
We release our grip on earthly anxieties
and open ourselves to God’s transforming presence.

Come Together!

Welcome and Announcements

*Brethren we have met to worship   HWB 8                                                   

*Call to Worship:

Sometimes we stumble in deep darkness.                       
Even then, God desires to shelter us.
Often we clutch the things that appear to give us security.
God waits for us to let go of these illusions.
Deep within us we want life in its fullness.
Yet we are accompanied by the fear that we will not achieve this fullness.                        
We recognize the uncertainties that nag within us.             Come!            
God offers us the words, “Do not be afraid, walk with me.”                   
Lord, help our trust in you to grow.                        
Take away our doubtings and fears  so we can move ahead.

Confession:  

Faithful God, the darkness of fear                        
is often our own making.
We find it very difficult to let go of our fears.
These fears keep us from you and from each other.
These fears make us less than what you want us to be.
Make us courageous and bold to face our uncertainties.
Give us the determination to follow where you lead.
